Et-Liv UD should be used cautiously in pets that may have complications related to gallstones such as biliary obstruction, cholecystitis, or pancreatitis. Because safety has not been clearly established, ursodiol should be used cautiously in pregnant and lactating pets.
Indications
- The management of dogs with chronic hepatitis and cats with lymphocytic plasmacytic cholangitis.
- Primary biliary cirrhosis
- Chronic inflammatory hepatobiliary disease
- UDCA reduces albuminuria and prevent progression of kidney damage.
- Immunomodulatory UDCA is believed to involve decreased immunoglobulin production by B lymphocytes, decreased interleukin-1 and -2 production by T lymphocytes, decreased expression of hepatocyte cell surface membrane HA class I molecules and possibly stimulation of the hepatocyte glucocorticoid receptor.
